About The Artist
Born in the teenie town of Brights Grove, Ontario, Dockside of The Moon is a solo project created by singer/songwriter Joseph McKelvie. The project aims to bring together an eclectic blend of musicians from the local area, contributing influences and genres in an amalgamation of sound that pulls from a wide variety of inputs from the sixties to present.
Influences like Nick Drake, Mother Love Bone, John Martyn, Mac Demarco, Stan Rogers, Slightly Stoopid, Temple Of The Dog, Kurt Vile, Blue Rodeo, John Butler etc, have melded into what is a mix salad of genres that has resulted in two EP's with a groovy, laid-back, and folk rocking psychedelic twist.
Dockside Of The Moon has been lucky to work with some amazing Canadian talent over the past few years including Big Wreck's Brian Doherty, as well as internationally renowned harmonica player Mike Stevens. He was grateful to work closely with The Joys ex-guitarist Mike Mckyes, who has recently become an amazing engineer and producer in his own right. The result was two thoughtfully crafted EP albums that explored the influence of a decade of a diverse musical absorption and songwriting studies.
Dockside Of The Moon has recently relocated to Vancouver, British Columbia nestling into a quaint studio in the heart of East Vancouver under the guidance of longtime Vancouver recording engineer and producer Allan Rodger. A full length studio album is in the works, preparing to draw some incredible local drawn talent.
